The Palmetto Gourd Patch has wonderful meetings. Check these out.
In July we made Gourd Scrap Ladies with Christine Pace. Christine showed us how
to paint a beautiful lady gourd pin.
August 2 -Jewelry making, assembly and embellishment. We will also be
learning how to solder around a gourd piece.
September 6 -Bowl Lining - paper, fabric, water proofing, clay, wood rot
stop, etc.
October 4 -Rims with naturals - Peggy Ash, Debbie Wilson, Marianne, and
any others who would like to share - Philodendron sheath, pine needles, vines,
yarns, fabric, etc. Peggy Ash has all the pine needles & philodendron sheath for
the whole class to share. She will go cut vines this summer. You will need to
have a cut and cleaned gourd bowl. We can drill holes in class.
November 1 -November will be Andrea doing birds on egg gourds with
polymer clay.
December -Christmas Party and exchange. Iris, Lee & Marilyn have
volunteered to do a surprise presentation or class
The patch will be doing a festival in Traveler's Rest called the TRAM on October
4th
We have many members who will be displaying at the Orangeburg Show September
29th-Oct.5th.
Maxine Riley, one of our members, was juried into the Pickens County Museum of
Art Show that ran through June.
Marianne Barnes, president of the patch, retired from 38 years of teaching art
in the public schools this year. She will be offering gourd classes at her home.
She is also available to teach at workshops, patches, etc. Contact her at

Marianne Barnes, Debbie Wilson and Peggy Ash taught classes at Cherokee this
year. Marianne also taught at the Pennsylvania Gourd Show in June.
