Members Write Books, Juried in Sholws, and Featured in Newspaper
Betsey Sloan, member of SCGS and Publicity/Promotion Chairman, is expecting her new book, Antler Art for Baskets and Gourds, to be out in December, 2010.It is all about enhancing baskets and gourds with antlers. The book will have step-by-step instructions so you can learn learn how to drill, frame, and attach antlers to a traditional weave basket, gourd bowl, floor vases, and even masks. This is Betsey's second book.
Marianne Barnes, member of SCGS and webmaster,has written a book titled Weaving on Gourds. It will be out October 2010. The book will cover different kinds of weaving on top of gourds.Twine and Triple Twine Gourd, Twill Woven Gourd, and a Gourd Basket with Four Rod Wale are projects in the book. Chapters cover preparing the gourd, weaving techniques, strengthening the rim, and adding embellishments to your finished woven gourd. 
Debbie Wilson, member and Secretary of SCGS, had a gourd juried into the Pickens Art show; and Angie Craft, member and Treasurer and Membership chairman, was featured in an article in the Greenville News.
